Project Aims and Outcomes

Project Aims

This project aims to further our understanding of the linkage between gambling and domestic abuse, and the impact of gambling-related domestic abuse on women’s accommodation by social housing providers, including the nature of support available to them. It will also develop capacity in social housing providers to identify and respond to gambling-related domestic abuse.

Social housing includes supported housing, where this is provided by a housing association or local authority. The project aims to understand how and what effective services can be provided by social housing professionals to support women experiencing gambling-related domestic abuse.

Anticipated Outcomes
  • Enhance understanding of the linkages between gambling and domestic abuse particularly as it relates to women who live in social housing.
  • Develop the evidence base, dissemination tools and strategies to inform policy and regulation.
  • Inform the development of regulation and policy in relation to gambling-related domestic abuse and build capacity within the social housing sector (housing associations and local authorities) to identify and respond appropriately to gambling-related domestic abuse.
  • Establish best practice in relation to dealing with gambling-related domestic abuse in social housing settings.
